125g Build

Hey everybody. So I thought my 90g was leaking(bulkhead was cracked instead) and had the opportunity to upgrade to a 125g. My landlord gave me permission to put pipes through the floor for a basement sump also so I decided to do a build thread.

First off I built the stand. I made it out of 4x4s and 2x4s and skinned it with luan plywood.

Tank drilling

Next I drilled the holes for the Bean overflow. I drilled to one end so I could get to the plumbing later if I needed and I wanted to be able to reach the gate valve for the full siphon drain.

Overflow

Next I made and installed the overflow box. I made it out of glass. I thought it looked nice. I went with a 3' box instead of the coast to coast.

Next I brought the new tank in the house and plumbed it to the basement.

Canopy

Next I made the canopy. I used 2x3s and skinned it with luan again.

Last night I put the lights in the canopy and put dry sand and dry rock in it.

Here is a pic of my temp tank in the basement. I will try to keep the progression going.

Nice! All in one day...kidding.

when you’re done I will leave the wood in the driveway for you to get started on mine.

Wow Chris! Great job on everything.

Definitely digging the rock work. Are you keeping it like that?

Do you have an airline for the bean setup?

Looks great is the 90 in the basement gonna be a refugium??? What size sump are u gonna use?? And 1 that bothers me is the oak trim on the tank I'd try to paint it

I have not decided on the sump yet. I was going to use the 90 but I'm not sure. I am having some physical issues and I am trying to keep everything to a certain height to make it easier to work on. I was thinking of getting a couple of 40b and doing a refugium, sump and remote deep sand bed(I kept the sand in the DT shallow). There was somebody recently that was getting rid of 8 of the 40b but he never got back to me. Yes I hate the oak trim I meant to paint it before I brought it in. I will take care of it tonight.

If it was me I'd make the 90 a macro seagrass tank and slow the flow down and add some ponys and grab a 40 breeder for the sump and tie both tanks into the sump lol
