40 Gal Breeder Canopy

Does anyone have a plan or design for a canopy for a 40 gal breeder, I am in the process of setting up a new tank and I want to build a canopy so my daughter won't throw things in it. Also I wast to put 2 250 watt MH pendents under it so it needs to be high. Any help would be great

Here's what I built for my 40B. The canopy and light fixture are seperate components.

The canopy is all 1" pine. The most expensive part was for the long hinges for the doors (it has doors front and back if it's not clear in the pics).

two 250's on a 40 breeder? wow! One 250 would be more than enough, I have 2 on my 75 and its more than enough.

Those are nice canopies...I will now only do 1 250 MH under the tank. How tall should the canopy be with the MH under it so the tank won't heat up too much

no more then 15inches and no closer the 6... i have two 175w mh over my 50 breeder 8 inches off water.. One halide makes the center brace shadow on the breeder tanks....

Ok thanks guys, now I just have to figure out how I am going to build it and design it. Thanks for all the help

FWIW.... I have one 250 watt 10K over my 40 breeder, and it is plenty-o-light. I have mine about 12" off the surface in a hanging canopy.
