Finally it begins. Nothing much so far, just drilling for a "herbie" but more to come (ever so slowly...)

*Note, this tank normally comes with a tempered bottom. Don't try this at home :)

Finger crossed and one eye shut while pressing down the drill bit!!!! Or is that a special "Tempered glass bit" that sits next to the board stretcher, wire stretcher and left handed screwdriver,lol.

Moving ahead at a snails pace.

Making the overflow box, then prepping to install it. (pic #2 is bending, heat strip under the center strip of wood, acrylic in bending jig under that.) Yes, it's pretty big and looks just like an old school oceanic box. What can I say, I like it like that.

You lay it across the acrylic and plug it in. It fairly slowly heats the acrylic enough that you can bend it.

I use that wooden jig to ensure that it's a nice straight bend, and so I can be sure of the angle when it's done. You could accomplish that by just bending the acrylic over a 4x4 and clamping it when done, but I like making little gadgets like that. :)

Little by little. Overflow installed.

Masking tape off the edges, then smooth it out with a rubber gloved finger seam by seam. Change gloves after each seam.

It's going to be my new display. The 120 is empty, and what I have kept of my livestock is currently in a temporary 40.

Basically I'm going for a little, rimless version of my old tank. Two small rock islands with lots of RBTAs and leathers all over the place :)

Updating, finally....

New stand;

Turning a pile of acrylic into a sump.

The yellow thing is a adjustable / removable divider for using the sump as a ref.
