Can anyone provide some input on what would work to add some shimmer to my 4x54W T5 setup? I'm thinking of adding some LED accent lights but don't know if it's practical and how many I would need...

I was thinking of adding one of those Icecap 48" "bulbs" if I could find one but didn't know if that would be enough to get some shimmer... http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=2756

I also thought about these http://www.aquacave.com/led-light-strip-44-br33-blue-leds-by-hamilton-brtechnology-3260.html...

TIA...

I have plenty of surface agitation just want to make sure I'd actually get some shimmer effect with that few of LED's...

i have one of those par38 bulbs it has 5 cree's in it and i get ALOT of shimmer, i know its a spot light so maybe the relative comparison is off but i dont think you'd need that many to get the shimmer your looking for. Have u checked those ecoexotic stunner strip things? i'm not really read up on it but i've heard great things in alot of forums about the nice shimmer they produce on larger tanks, might be worth a look :)

no shimmers dave i have the same icecap led strip i use for moonlight....not bright enough to make things shimmer with your day light on.....but good shimmering for moonlight......

I agree, probably not bright enough to produce any noticeable shimmer. A DIY application might be more suitable.
