My sargassum hid for 2-3 weeks as well. Now he's out all the time, but still occasionally gets spooked and wedges back in the rocks. Funny thing is it will hide from strangers unless I'm in the room, but it may just be coincidental....

I had several aggressive fish (Panther Grouper, Snowflake Moray) in my previous non-reef tanks that definitely recognized my face on sight, as does my current Yellow Tang to a lesser extent.

Experimented a lot with friends going in alone and even different hair / clothing appearances and they always appeared to recognize when it was me from across the room versus someone else... and then their shyness would drop instantly like a puppy dog!
