Since you don't want to blackout, I'll assume there's coral in the tank. He can try to keep it in check by siphoning off whatever he can get to daily. Turkey baster is great for that. Increasing flow should help also. It will eventually die off, but it could take months.
 
keeping an elevated PH via constant kalk drip has been known to work. That said, are you %100 certain it is Dino's? (misidentification is not uncommon)
 
I'm 24 hours into a tank blackout for brown, stringy what-I-think-are dinos. I've been "vacuuming my tank" several times per week but they seem to just be getting worse so I'm going for the blackout, sure hoping it helps.
