Ich question

Just a thought regarding getting ich in a tank....if one takes corals or LR or used live sand, from someone with ich active/dormant in their tank, wouldn't you reason that it could then become active in your display tank?

Reason I ask is that one of my tangs has spots on him now after recently adding some frags and some rock rubble from a LFS.

Didn't have any spots before in the display...

I don't know if there is a 100% certain answer to this, but personally I'm an advocate of the "anything wet" could bring in ick approach/caution.

Did you ever see spots in your tank before? How long have you had the fish?

If there was any infecton present/dormant in your tank, the disturbance of adding new stuff could have been a stressor causing the low level/dormant infection come out fighting.
The new corals or the rocks they are on could also have imported cysts?

Sometimes cause and effect gets confusing with Ick.
