"Kalk top off water" Is there a experation?

I understand how to test Kalk powder (to make sure it is still usable)? My question refers to top off water that has already been mixed with good kalk powder.
Long story short, I remember reading something about the mixed solution can not sit for longer then a week.
Is this true?
I how do you all rig your tanks so that they will be fine if you go away for a while. The feedings can be taken care of, i just do not want the person watching my tank to have to make more Kalk/Top off mix.

Basically you should be fine if you are not constantly stirring it up and exposing it to CO2.

Even though much of this stuff fly's over my head, I appreciate you pointing this article out for me. It was exactly what I was looking for, and even saved me for looking further into adding vinegar to my solution.
