I have my 8 bulb ati light on my 120 I was thinking of going led should I or not and advice or thoughts?

I was running 3 165 w leds over a 6 foot tank and having great growth results. I just added 2 t5's for overkill. It's hard to go wrong with any of the black box models. I have the viparspectra cus they have timers already set up

Cheaper options are Reef Breeders or a bunch of other Chinese models that can be found on eBay or Amazon.

More expensive option that is pretty much proven the best is Radion. There are many other really good options such as ATI / Maxspech / Kessil. The thing with LED's is making sure that you get proper coverage. I have an ATI LED/ T5 retrofit combo and I am happy with it.

+1 i will stay ati and add a led blue strip for coral pop .
try reefbars pro or truelumen decent price good blue pop

My wife wants me to put a canopy on my tank so ill have to cut the top off if I keep the fixture

Keep the ati t5 fixture. Its one of the best lights and very easy on the camera when you want to take photo to show off your nice tank.
If your corals dont look nice under this T5 especially ATI light then blame on you or your inexperience.
To be honest just keep using the light.

Only if you think the coral lack "pop". For growth wise, you have plenty of light.
or you can change the bulb configuration for a different look.

If you like to have shimmer, you can get a Kessil 160we and shine it at an angle from the back of the tank.
