That is a discussion which could go on for ages to or not to skim. I'm sure everyone says that they will have an invert system will have fish in there.
Skimmer, yup I'm planning on one...at least. I figure I a deltec will do the job. The one that I was looking at will skim 3000 gallons but it costs $6000 so I imagine I'll go with a different model but....who knows.
If you aren't keeping fish and have a sump with lots of rock, I wouldn't think you'd need a mammoth skimmer. But that's just my opinion (of the moment).
