There is a huge risk to youe livestock taking everything down and nuking it. And given the fact there are a few things sticking out like a sore thumb, I would never advice anyone to break down their tank. the risk to the livestock is huge and you are right back at the beginning. The simple fact of overlooking TDS means the basics were not met, time to back up re address the basic. I am willing to be that along with some stepped up maintenance will right the problem.

I know over the last few year nuking everything has become a thing but why is it for years we solved the problem with out all these drastic measures. Not looking for an answer but some,thing to think about

Also the birth of the low nutrient tank and moving away from running a tank naturally with a cleanup crew has made nuisance algae issues more of a problem. The method of dosing for running a low nutrient tanks feeds the bacteria and nuisance algae making the problem more complicated.
