I do a 30 gal water change as regular weekly maintenance, so cost is a consideration for me. I buy IO in the 200 gal boxes. You can find it for $35.
It does run low in calcium ( I've tested @ 350 -375). I just bump it up to 450 with Dow flake. It's a cheap fix and seems to be working for me. The Alk seem to be around 9+ Dkh and my system seem to maintain Alk so this hasn't been an issue for for me.
