Just sent on Facebook they are closing. Store is 30% off. Claiming with the uncertainty of the mall they decided to wrap it up. I believe the mall is in forclosure.

Yup, love Greg and Underwater World. Supposed casino going in down the street and supposedly mall is becoming housing. Damn shame

Terrible news I have been going to Greg since he first opened. Now I don’t have a store any closer then 45- hour plus away. Sucks
How am I supposed to make unauthorized purchases and sneak them in the house now

Greg is a great guy and it is sad to loose a great LFS. May be he will reopen at a new location?

"The mall was foreclosed on by Branch Banking and Trust Company due to an unpaid mortgage loan."
The mall owners owe A LOT of money, and most stores have left over the years. Writing was on the wall, like Hanover mall, kingston mall.....Doomed places.
Ahh, good to know. The company I work for closed its doors last October there and that was the rumor as to what was going on there.

The interweb says the mall owners still have a mortgage of around $125 million. I imagine that property will get more then $7 million I think I read on FB. The land itself is worth more then that.

My dad told me last night that Carey from Brockton bought the land.

Either way I'd get one from Bulk Reef Supply. Everything and anything you could ever imagine. Did I mention that they are supporting this club?

Not only do they have everything but their having a 10% sale until may 31st. Can get a 4 stage value rodi for $135 shipped

I spoke with Greg today and he said it was a very difficult decision but he is out of the business for good. He's been thinking about it for a while and I guess the problems with the mall was just the push he needed. I was hoping he was just going to move to another location. It's pretty dire straights here on the south shore for reefers. No place to go without a drive of an hour or more. I have been going to Underwater World for years and I will miss Greg and his staff tremendously. They are all good guys and I wish them all the best.

You really cant be shocked by this as half the problem with our local LFS staying in business was literally just brought up in this thread. Not bashing just pointing out the truth but when a local member asks about a RODI unit and the first 2 answers to him is go online... that right there is why our local stores cant keep there heads above water. I get the ease of online reef shopping i myself do it for certain items. However when your local store can get you the same item for ultimately the same price if not cheaper that's how you keep them open. People who go online for 80% of there reefing needs then only go to the LFS to cherry pick coral or livestock doesnt help. And in the end here is the result the store local to you that is there for your dire needs closes its doors. Now when your heater sh*** the bed or your return pump your forced to either drive well over a hour or wait for 2 day shipping. Sadly LFS in this area are a dying breed and soon enough we wont have any. So all i can say is stock up on those online buys make sure you buy backup equipment because otherwise your risking your livestock without a LFS to have your back. I personally would rather order anything and everything through Underwater world then buy online if he could order it i gave him my business so what if it took 2 days longer for hanging kits, filter sock, salt mix. Keep that in mind for the stores we have left otherwise we can say goodbye to them as well.

The salt at jays is cheaper or just as much as online, they get discounts when they buy it since they're retailers

I totally get what your saying here, but figured I'd throw it out there that BRS is sponsoring this club by donating goods to our event. I do a mix of both online and in person. When I was mobile I'd have no problem spending a Saturday or Sunday and visiting all the area shops. Greg is a great guy and I'm truly sorry to see the store go as I'm there at least once every couple of months. Hell I was just @ another b&m and bought a pump, forceps and a $13 tube of super glue gel that I could have gotten much cheaper online. Did I need it right then and there, no. Did I do it to help a store versus an online company, Yea.
