just installed RODI last month.

Added 25G rubbermaid trash can and auto shutoff.
no probs

Added 35G rubbermaid tub for salt water/ change/ topoff, etc.

It bulges like hell in the middle and only at 3/4 full.

any ideas for supporting it...

I use Brute barrels. They cost more then than the Rubbermade, but their a lot heaver. I've had Rubbermade barrels split on me. You could double up the Rubbermade.

I think it depends on which model rubbermaid you get. Ive got a rubbermaid etra strength and it never buldges...altough if my barrel wasnt free I would have bought a brute.

Is your 35g rubbermaid a round barrel or a rectangular tub? Anything round-shaped will deform a lot less than a rectangular shaped container for your water.

I too have had non-brute containers split on me.

Brute here too... been using them for a couple years with no problems. I've noticed that the bottom of the barrels deform a bit if they aren't supported under the recessed center. I have mine placed on flat homemade dollies, but plan to add some support for the center of the barrel because it looks like a bad stress point.
