Algae and reef pest ID thread

We see a lot of reefers who have questions on 'what is this in my tank.'

If you own a good picture of a pest algae or reef pest, post it here. If we get enough responses, I'm going to sticky the thread, for easier ID's for everyone.

There is a few of these threads floating around let me see If i can dig them up.

I know one of them had a reasonable amount of photos in it.

I think pointing to threads would also be a good idea as people can see how members
successfully deal with the different pests.

I wasn't really looking for a cheat, I was looking for some good ol' fashioned BRS contributions. How many of us have seen these pests...this could become a thread of shame and despair, but I was hoping to turn it around and make it a thread of proof that this stuff can be beaten!

The only place I could really post a picture is in the nuisance algea section... Dinos. I've done lights out, steady high PH, carbon, phob ban, siphoning, blowing off rocks. Each try just pissed them off more. Incidentally, they really smell disgusting too.

Brandon from Skipton's gave me good advice, which is to siphon into a filter sock, then put the water back into the tank--so you're not adding new water (with silicates, etc.).

Lobophora Varigata. This was easily taken care of by pulling it all off..haven't seen it since


Razor Caulerpa. I haven't attempted to get rid of this yet


Neomaris Annulata. Died off and havn't see it since.
