confused on cycle

Corwyn

I am in Raynham
So my tank has been up for about a month
Started with base rock and sand. Added 40lbs of live sand and the red sea reef starter kit.

My Salinity is 1.24
Ph 7.8
Ammonia is .6
Nitrate above 50 not quit 110 but closer than to 50
nitrite 3.3 or more

lights are off
skimmer off
nothing in tank

zero sign of any algea growth of any kind.

been this way for about a week.

What do I do?

Wait longer (until nitrite and ammonia drop to zero)

If you want algae, turn the loghts on ;)

Lights on will create algae and in turn the algae will consume some of the ammonia nitrite and nitrates

Time is all you need.
It's a little frustrating waiting for that nitrate cycle to complete.
But, when it's done you'll know that the fish and corals you add slowly to the tank will have a good chance at surviving.
I've probably cycled 5+ tanks over the years. Even being in this hobby a while. It still seems to take forever.lol

This is the first test of your number one reef keeping skill...patience :). If you fail this test you are required by law to sell your tank to me very cheap.
