FHW Oil Heat (no Electric Heater) Save big bucks.

No, I am soley using the AC III.

I cannot seem to log into the AC III right now (from the office) so I'll post that that tonight.

What do you need regarding the electrical?
 
What's the parts list and cost for this project?
I could in theory do this work myself :)

1/2 inch flex tubing (red) 25 - 100 feet
Zone valve for heater zone
Copper piping to create zone to sump
lots of little pipe connectors
Solenoid as shown in prevous posts
Project box to house solenoid
AC III or other heater controller
Wire to connect the solenoid to on/off controller
Thermostat wire to connect solenoid to zone valve

Since it's a tad chilly outside...

I wanted to know how you guys, who took this project on, were doing with it? Are you saving a small fortune in not having to run sub. heaters? And more importantly, are you making up for it in oil heating costs? :p :D

I've got a brontosaurus of a furnace and am wondering if this is a viable option for me. I do have asbestos everywhere though. :(

verry fancy! and great idea. its like the way they heat floors. you put down like 1/4 tubing in plywood. then push hot water threw it to heat your floor....

Working flawlessly now since I installed it. Have yet to even touch it.

However If I was to do it again... I'd only use about 10 - 20 feet of tubing.

However I have a 800 watt backup electric heater and then a backup - backup 250 watt but they never come on...

Cool... any estimate on $$ saved. I know oil was a bit expensive last year, but were you able to draw any comparisons. :)
 
The bet is that you can heat it with oil, even employing the use of a recirculation pump, cheaper than electric, I'm not convinced its worth the effort.

It's very difficult to determine savings. I know that since my electric heaters never come on... I have just removed a point of failure. (those electric heaters seem to short and fail all the time).
