Help with two issues.

Sheesh! Don't let it go dark too long. That caulerpa will go sexual or die off if light
starved. If you note any turning clear, pull it out (if it doesn't fall apart first).
Let me know how it goes.

It could be the leather corals. I don't think bleach "recharges" Activated carbon, so you may not really be running carbon.

Is that how you tell?? I am now just starting to grow caulerpa and was wondering. But some of it seems to start OFF clear...is that bad? Maybe I should start a new thread instead of absconding with this one.

clear is the begining of melting, I would say get it out.
