Need a Skimmer & ro/di recommendation

Kevin McG

Ni Hao!
Taxes are done and I have the all go for a skimmer and ro/di unit. What are some suggestions on each for a 180?

Thanks

If I were you, I'd skip the bidding and go into the store and buy one of the ones for buy it now. and I don't know if you want to use it for drinking water, but I would skip the tank if you don't need it. Also, I bought the sink adapter, so I didn't have to drill into anything. I was looking at your new set up (I love when people show pics of the set up the whole time!) and thats a great spot, with the sink right there and everything. Its a pita when I fill my container up, a 15 gal rubbermaid, and then I have to drag it into my room. Maybe you could set it up with an autotop off maybe?

I have that same RODI filter and it works great.

Regarding the skimmer, the ER 8-2, rated at 155g, is undersized for your tank (even taking into account ER's conservative/realistic ratings)... with a 180g tank + 40g sump, I'd be looking at the 12-1 (rated for 300g). FWIW, I have the 6-1 (rated for 100g) on my 75g tank, it works really well.

I ran an 8-2 on my 220 and loved it (75g sump)
i upgraded to a 12-2 and the extra pump seemed to add a few degrees.
I now run an 8-2 on my 2 92's with 65g and 29g with 40g Sump.

love the euro reefs
