Sump flow rate?

Hi... I'm getting my first sump/refugium up and running in the next couple of days... My question is what should my flow rate be... I've done some research and some people say fast others slow.... It's going from my 55 gal to a 125 gal display traveling a max of 4 1/2 feet... I have a mag drive 5 pump witch will give me a 300 gph flow rate should this be enough...Thank you for any advice...

General rule of thumb is to match it to your skimmer rating. If the pump on your skimmer is 500 GPH, then try to match that. Faster and you are adding unfiltered water back to your tank.

3-5x display volume per hour .....
Or as much as you want,hell you can Max out the overflow if you feel like doing so, but there is little benefit of going fast.

Many people run mag 5-9 on 125g

3-5x is right on the money. I run about 250gph through my sump on my 60 cube which is about 4x.
