Algae problems-no wonder

I have been wondering over the past 2 months why I have gotten cyano and other macro algae growing in my tank. In the past 2 years I never have had a problem. Well last night I decided to change all my RODI filters. Today I tested and RODI was 5ppm so I empty reservior and decided I better empty my topoff bucket as well. I get the bucket down from the shelf and my husband look inside and says you should wash that out. But before I do we check the TDS it's 24ppm. I empty the bucket and there is a slime coat on the bottom. Moral of the story is not only should you change your filter's from time to time, but clean out the darn bucket that hold the water. I also wiped out a nice layer off scum. I guess time will tell if that really was the problem, but I bet it didn't help.
