Controlling nitrates

Eshopps S-200 cone skimmer pulls think skimmate. Was wonder if that could be the issue as well. I am going to start saving incase that is the issue . Either way going to do another water hangs in the morning then run over to KCA in auburn to get salt and more I'm sure.

Well i was having the same problem but wasnt as high. Around 60 to 80 ppm. I did multiple 30 gal water changes and stirred up my sand bed. It went down to about 40. Now i have a bio pellet reactor been up and running for about a month. I also made a algae scrubber and thats been running ten days. The nitrates are now down to about 10 ppm. Its been driving me crazy too

Got mine down between 60 and 80 now. Confirmed by lfs. Going to continue to do water changes and make sure I stay on schedule. Hoping that reactor is under the tree right now. I think biopellets will get everything back in line.

What type of Algae Scrubber did you build?

Built one with pvc pipe and screen. Only cost me about $9
