Coraline algae faded away..why?

When I down sized tanks and lighting from 33 with 220 vho to a 20 gallon with 96 watt daylight pc my coraline algae faded away. The lr looks like nothing special, just plain rock. Underneath the rock there is normal looking coraline. My alk and ca seem normal. The only thing I could think of was the bulb being to strong, however the bulb is 6 inches above the waterline and it is very old and should have been replaced 6 months or more ago. What could it be? Thanks.

All my soft coral are fine. I did lose a finger leather slowly after the transition. That sucked.
