I don't understand why they put those holes in the sides, they are totally un-necessary and may well hinder the proper operation of the duroso. Personally I have always DIY'd durosos from regular plumbing parts....

FWIW to do a herbie style drain you need to use two holes, one for the drain and one for a back up.

i just changed to a herbie style on my 54 corner, i love it dead silent!

I have the megaflow drain in my 72 bow and was draining nice and quiet when the mag 9 was running. BUT, when I switched to the waterblaster 3000 pump I was getting the gurgling noise you described. It's also running less water flow at 528 GPH. The mag 9 was running about 900 GPH.

I read on another site that the lower the water flow, the bigger the air hole that you need. I stepped up the air hole to 1/4" from the stock 5/32" and it's now nice and quiet and the water level stays in the middle of the horizontal section. Exactly where it's supposed to be.
