Has anyone had water tested via Triton Labs (UniqueCorals.com)?

I have not, but plan to in the very near future. There are a buncha threads on r2r posting their results.

I'm looking into it as well. Of course, the thought of no water changes, per the Triton method, is a bit antithetical to nearly decades of personal experience!

I've been following it as well. The results shown are spectacular but I'll wait until I see more before and after shots.

It would be interesting to see what my water parameters though.

this is really cool , I've been having my doubts about the standard hobby test kits we have access to and been wondering just how accurate they are . The price isn't that bad either . No water changes ? Hmmmmm . makes sense but you know the saying , the solution to polution is dilution .

I sent mine in last week guess I'll get my read in another week or so kinda nice to see where my tank stands not sure I like the whole Method thing honestly just kinda curious as to whats in my water column.

Besides I want to cross reference it to my Salifret tests honestly.

I the video, the guy says "have the largest refugium possible" to keep things stable. I think that at least 90% of the people cannot go without a water change because their tanks are over populated with fish, and don't have enough biological filtration.

I sent my sample in last week. I don't intend to follow the triton method. I just want to see what the test values are using red sea coral pro salt and if I need to tweek something.

I'm with you. In just looking for a detailed water analysis.

...stupid auto correct

I need to to research on is but once you get your water tested and find out what needs to supplemented what next besides an initial supplementation. Do you continue to send in water samples every month or so? Or, do you get to a point where your tank is self sufficient and stays within correct parameters.

a good point was brought up to me today after a couple hours doesn't the params change ? take some water out let it sit for 2 days and test it . compare that to your water in tank

The parameters could change if there are enough bacteria or micro fauna in the sample. By consuming nutrients, excreting waste products or even by just dying the water chemistry would be affected by living stuff in the sample. The question would be if it is significant. It would be better if the samples could be centrifuged before shipment. Not many people have a centrifuge lying about the house. I suppose some sort of drip through filter would work. I was going to bring my sample to work and centrifuge it before I sent it. I got lazy and just mailed it out.

I got my results and posted them in randys triton tin poll in reefcentral. I have elevated tin from corroded hose clamps and my iodine was low. Mg and iodine from test kits differed dramatically from triton results but triton levels make more sense.

My tin level was also elevated but the lead was very high. Can't figure out where the lead could come from.

I'm sending mine in soon, waiting for the sample kit to come In. Seems cool to know but I think I'll drive myself nuts trying to find where all the different elements are coming from!

I made a mistake in taking the water sample shortly after I fed 5 cubes of mysis to the fish. I'm guessing that's why the phosphates are so high. They were 0 the last time I checked. I have tested phosphates before and after feeding and the difference is amazing!
