It has started

So, I assume I glue the PVC into the bulkhead, correct?
And what about gluing the loc-line to the PVC?

In my old 75g, I ended up having to glue the vertical PVC to the bulkhead (and glue a 90 degree elbow to the top of the vertical pipe, too) because the pressure of the water when I started the pump was enough to push the pipe into the air if it was simply slipped into the bulkhead... yes, it was a funny sight to be seen, fortunately I did a "dry run" (actually, "wet run" ;)) of the plumbing in the garage before taking everything upstairs

The 90 degree elbow I used was threaded on one end, and I used the loc-line MPT adapter to connect to the elbow, so no need to glue the loc-line.

This is how my setup is except I drilled and taped the elbow at the top of the tube and used a nylon screw through the elbow into the vertical tube to attach the elbow. That way I can remove it along with the lockline for cleaning

Glue everything on your return that are slip fittings. I use a slip/slip union at the top of the pipe and attach a slip/thread 90 to that and screw the lock line into it. You can see this union in my picks of the durso in the background. You can just unscrew it if it needs to be taken off and to screw the lockline into the 90. I didn't have them at first and couldn't get the lock line to screw in with the overflow in the way.

Good point on the pump pressure blowing the slip fittings apart, never happened to me, but could get quite messy if it did happen.

If your planning to snake a long section of loc-line around the duroso as I suggested before (straight slip to thrd fitting, not 90deg slip to thrd), you could use a bulkhead threaded on both sides, then use a male thrd X female slp fitting at the bulkhead, and female slip X female thrd fitting at the top (to the loc-line).

In that scenerio you could cement all the slip connections, and leave the thrd connections with just teflon tape or no sealant. This way you would prevent a pressure blow off at the slip fittings, but also be able to disassemble the whole thing for cleaning.

Whatever you do, try to plan it so that you can take it apart for cleaning, that will save a lot of potential headaches in the long run.

If you are going to buy a bunch of loc line (more than 6" of line plus fittings), I would go to AA, or mailorder. Otherwise this stuff gets pretty pricy for what it is. AA is the only place local that I can think of that carries Loc-line at mailorder cometitive prices - but I could be missing someone?

Moe, as always, I'm 10 min away and your welcome to come by for a visit and chit chat.

Mo Office Aquariums carries the lock line stuff.

I got some there, and there are 2 very similar sizes, so snap everything together before you leave to save a second trip

Freakin' incredible, and pathetic, isn't it? Damn.

Big thanks to Gustavo, MikeG, StevenP, PenMan & bfmc, and especially to Dennis for convincing me to just do it.

Thanks to Scavo, Gustavo, and anyone else holding pieces of my livestock for 2.75 years.
