AGA sells them all set up and adjustable for $20 a pair. WELL worth not having to screw with making one yourself.:) I got mine from Marc when Fishey Business was still open.

I'm running them on my 210. I also got them from Marc, but the were $20 each. Well worth the money. I tried the PVC route and couldn't stop the noise. You can buy just the standpipes and not the return kit. The even come with snail guards. The only sound from my 210 now is the hood fans.

I made my stand pipe myself out of pvc for my 90g. That length depends on how high your overflow is I believe. As far as the noise you can ethier drill a small hole on the top of the cap or you can make a hole on the side of the cap and adjust it as needed. I hade to make mine all out of 1" pvc due to overflow size contraints, but none the less still works the same over the long run just cycles more.

I'm looking at piece #6...

That is way over done all you need is a 1" to 1 1\4" reducer on the bottom of the standpipe

if your worried about height i would use an expansion joint. it is nice because it makes them adjustable.
you can find them at lowes

Woo hoo! The Dursos are done-zo!!
Now another question...

There ain't mch room within the overflow area for both the Durso standpipe and the return pipe + lock line. You folks sure the two can both fit in there? How? Should I use a spaflex return line in the overflow to get around the Durso?

Here's a picture, notice the bulkhead in the bottom for the return line.

In orange, I've drawn in the space the return line would occupy.
It'll crash right into the Durso.

I had the same problem on my 125g with the Durso's. So I just ended up plumbing the returns over the top to SeaSwirls and plugging the extra holes up in the overflow chamber.

Ive been able to make it work in a AGA corner overflow with 1" pipe, but it took a good amount of wiggling and adjusting. It may be tough with 1.25".

One easy solution might be to run the retrun as a straight pipe up, into a long sectoin of lock line that you could snake around the duroso and out into the tank.

Yeah, I'm thinking of doing something very similar, John.
I'm thining of starting with a 4 or 6 inch standard PVC, then switching over to spaflex, then to lock line.
Any negatives?

Chop saw!!!:D
Ah ha! This we have and I sometimes use. Can't cut very small pieces, though.

I saw Gustavo try it once, and the little piece shot out like a missle. :D

Just put a scrap piece of wood against the fence and you can cut anything as small as you want.

Too unnerving. Band saw is a lot calmer. :p

good old hack saw works also, but no risk of cutting fingers off.

my chop saw has a clamp for the fence. One touch PVC cutting, no missiles

Oh, BTW, best tool to cut PVC that I've found? Band saw!

I've been using a compound miter saw... it's a godsend! Oh and for spa flex, I've been using a serrated "chef knife" :-D

Moe, as far as fitting in the return... plumb it first, then fit in the standpipes behind them... They should fit... if not, saw off 1" of the edge of the street elbow and the tee (theres mention of that on the durso page wrt AGA overlows.. )

For cutting pipe, have you tried a PVC cutter? I have made thousands of cuts with one and they are perfectly square, no burrs, zero dust and you can cut 3/8" off at a time. They also cut spa flex, pp/pe/vinyl tubing perfectly.
