I currently have a 4-5 year old current satellite freshwater LED 13 W 6500 K 600 lm sitting basically at water level and I also have 5 year old satellite freshwater LED 7.5 W 300 lm and 6500 KLED also sitting water level I’m getting pretty good growth now as much as I like but I also Want to avoid algae bloom. The tank is 17 inches deep. The colors are very nice because it’s more of a show and then I grow set up for lighting so there’s a lot of colorations (does changing the sub colors variations change the Kelvin) but it’s not as bright as like I was thinking of switching over led or T5 or combo perhaps a much more powerful high-performance LED (almost marine like) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Steve

I want to polish the water but I don’t want to buy a canister filter with “D earth” and certainly I don’t want to use a chemical additive. Any suggestions?

I was thinking about adding either 2 or 4 (unsure of the K value) HO T5’s. Would that be overkill? Or maybe one more LED strip, The plants that are directly underneath the light tend to grow better.
