still up in air for 2 front doors or 1 big door. will add 1 side door as well. any comments or ideas will great. thanks, peter

Man, moving right along not waisting any time. Looks good and heavy duty. I would go with two doors as I would think you would have issues finding hindges to carry all the weight of the door. Unless you made it a removable panel.

I'm sure someone else would have better insite into this that does finish carpentry for a living.

Good luck!

Well built and massively heavy duty!

Honestly looking at the construction of the commercial 'thin built' stands. I'd be afraid to put a large tank on one. Sure it may carry the weight but it just freaks me out.

looks great id go 2doors rather than one and a side door would be a huge plus IMO

thanks guys!!!

I'm thinking of 1 big removalable panel door(magnetic holders)with 2 doors on the face of it. so it looks like 2 doors but it's one big access panel. may even put doors on both ends, why not at this point.
does anyone have any experience w/ a big access door? and does it stay put w/ no problems?

2 doors for sure, you could do 1 big panel that looks like 2 doors. Magnetic catches should hold just fine. Buy 4 and then get more if the door does not stay put.
I would make it so that the 2 doors cover up the opening that way the whole thing looks seamless.

Also dont forget to pick a color scheme and paint lots of gear that color.
Kidding ... or not...
Ronnies build thread and mine are getting crazy with cool colors for the gear. Just want to keep the trend alive.
cheers - Jenn

Here are some pic's of the tank and light. no new progress on the stand

cool , very nice so far.

Decided to go with the one door huh?

What color scheme you goin with. ( Dont blame a girl for trying to keep a cool thing going )

well, had a very stressful weekend with the wind storm and losing power for 2 days, but today i brought the 60cube down to the basement to make room for the new tank :D . I stained the new stand w/ oil paint cut w/ thinner, a nice stressfull antique look. I ordered 75lbs of marco rock will be here tuesday. going to lowes tommorow for the spa flex pipe and other plumbing fittings. Plan on making the baffles for the 40g breeder sump/fuge this week and hopefully have it plumbed in this weekend. I bought a 100 rubbermaid tank from (paulthomas) to cycle rock and possibly at a later date a basement sump :D. well here are some pic's, will post some more this week of the sump build. Thanks, peter
