I'm very excited about this project. Got the tank in the house Saturday evening. Plumbed it and filled with tap water for testing. The dimension of the tank is 63"x31.5"x23.5" 200gallon. All sided starfire with single internal corner overflow.
The tank is place so that I have access to all side for maintenance. And most important of all is the perception of depth when you look into the tank. If the tank is place away from the wall, it will look deeper.

Next step is to figure out how to hang the light from the ceiling. Most hanging wire is not long enough for the ceiling height I got. I need a skimmer and some powerheads and it would be ready to go. However, progress will be slow since we just moved in.

very nice. this is going to be a great tank build.

by the way, your house looks very nice

you water test the tank in the house? what would you do if the tank leak

The build quality of Elos and the fact that I triple check the silicone seem and found it to be absolutely perfect makes me very confident that there would be no leak. The bottom is multi-section double pane glass for earthquake vibration. The tank itself is over 350lbs.

I have a suggestion for you, call your builder and ask what the beams underneath the tank made of. In older houses they used SOLID wood, today some of the builders use the "composite approach", meaning a vertical strip of ply / fabricated wood product reinforced on both edges with wood. The "new beams" hold very well from a structural point of view, less flex, less weight, cost less, BUT, ONLY AS LONG AS THEY ARE KEPT DRY. if they are EVER exposed to water they loose their structural carrying capacity for good, hence the stories of bathrooms falling straight through the floor into the lower level.

NICE TANK!!!

First thing I mentioned when I sat down with the builder even before we sign anything. I told him about my hobby and will require a very strong floor. Still, I called him before filling the tank and want to make sure that there's no issue. House is build with 2x10 solid joist.

Now this is called PLANNING!!!

I'd call again though and make sure he's aware of how the tank is being placed, from the looks of it all the weight will be resting on 2 joists mostly, due to the length of the tank being paralel with the joists, unless the joists are spaced at 12". that's a lot of weight even for a 2x10. if the tank would be positioned perpendicular to the beams there would be a lot more joists supporting the load.

I don't mean to say that this might cause issue or that it hasn't been planned properly, in fact, this being discussed with the builder before the construction even began is probably the most thoughtful thing i've ever heard of. I would just hate to see something happen in a brand new house, with such a beautiful tank, etc, etc; better be safe than sorry (and please don't ask how learned this).

It's actually 2boards sandwiched together where the tank is placed. Like I said before, it was planned for during the construction....

you even planned the location of the tank during the design stage????

WOW!!!!!!
Can't wait to see how the tank turns out when all is said and done, PLEASE keep us updated

P.S. I hope the reef porn from this tank will be at LEAST as high quality as from your former tank!!!

Nothing like the thrill of putting up a new tank. Looks great. If you have any concerns at all about the weight you can always reinforce the joists with a couple lally columns. I had my builder place four of them directly below the tank to add extra support to the three joists carrying the load.

That is a gorgeous tank can't wait to see it filled. Hope someday to have the same tank.
