When cooking/curing rock

i've always just had a HOB skimmer going on a brute with a heater and power heads. Didn't do much for water changes except Top off IIRC. But, i'm sure I did it wrong.

I never did water changes as well and it worked fine for me... I did let the rocks cycle a lot longer than I prob needed to but that was prob more out of need because of my hectic work schedule at the time...

water change will prob slow down the process....let it finish before any water changes

when doing this, do you need to use salt water? or will fresh water do the trick too. I have a bunch of oolitic limestone rock (coral rock) sitting in fresh water hoping the water will leach out anything bad that may be in it.
